    Wow. My work actually brings me down to Portsmouth on a regular basis. I like the town - it's got that small-town vibe. But I would go nuts if I live there. Plus, it is too close to West Virginia ass-rapin' country and Mothman.

    It should be noted however, small town politics are loaded with meddlesome old cranks who seem to have an axe to grind with whoever the local elected leadership is, and approach every local civic issue as if it were the Watergate break-in.

    @lionel-mandrake: Agreed. If you look at the blog, I mean, the guy sounds like an absolute pain. Having worked for a smalltown newspaper, I sort of love the mayor's response, and wish someone had said the same to my boss at the time. And hey, he's actually complying with the Open Records law! Better than some.
