Britney: For The Record: 'People Shave Their Heads Every Day' |

She's a paper cone that has been wound around with cotton candy fluff by a team of expert producers and artists. But at the core of it is this person who isn't, in my mind, a particularly great performer (was middling at her best and now is just...ugh) and isn't really in on the joke of her story. It bothers me. It disturbs me because I think it's destined to end with an engineered bang to keep the handlers profiting for as much longer as they can manage.
I don't mind artifice in my stars, I just like to feel that at the heart is an artist with some input, not...whatever she is. I can derive no joy from it.

Ugh.
A man? She's thinking about getting a man right now? Hasn't she spent enough time marching to the drum beat of SEVERAL men during the course of her life? Justin, Kevin, Lutfi, Adnan, Daddy Spears...all have had control over how she acts and feels about herself.
One would think she'd like a break from men to focus on her own mental health and her kids.
Logic...she's still doin it wrong. Sad.

Also, there wa a boy sitting on the other side of Britney and he seemed equally uneffected by the Madonna/Britney meeting. I was like "who the fuck IS that kid?"

1) She's more articulate than Sarah Palin. Yikes, on a whole new level.
2) Wondering if her meds include antidepressants and ADD drugs. Seems like she needs both. Or maybe that's just part of her manic bipolar issues.
3) The underlying sadness, hostagy, feeling-challengedness to her, pulled at my heart-strings.
4) Her relationship with her father seems so adolescent, but we know that's what she needs, but it's unfortunate they couldn't work through it normally, in the adolescent space where it's appropriate.
5) Did not need to see Madonna at all. It was haltingly weird. But she did make a good point about being a pop-star decades ago, where you could make mistakes and no one was the wiser.
6) Desperately wanted to tell Britney that if she normalizes in her own life, the media will get bored, and she will one day be able to go to Whole Foods like Jessica Alba.
7) Best line of the night for me, "Is my life weird?" haunting laugh, "It's all I've ever known."

Maybe I've finally traded in my optimism, but I think she's so emotionally stunted that she's unable to comprehend the enormity, or vacuousness, of what she's become. Or maybe always was. She lives these mini "epiphanies" constantly, but like the alcoholic who swears this hangover will be his very last, she's going to be stuck like this forever until she's willing to give up celebrity.

She also refused to admit that she either took drugs (she did) or was mentally unbalanced (she was). I mean, what an open and honest documentary, Britney.

It's a freakshow. It's the same feeling I get when I browse past that "little people, big world" show when quickly changing channels.
