They're not talking about banning Tylenol, but they are talking about lowering the dosage of OTC stuff by nearly half; what's now available as regular Extra Strength Tylenol would soon just be available by prescription.

This sucks ass. Ibuprofen doesn't work at all for a lot of people, and aspirin isn't usable after surgeries/injuries because it increases bleeding.

No clever jokes in this post, just ejaculations of pure annoyance. Ugh.

@booge: Yes, both those shows you point out only emphasized the joy of drinking large amounts of beer, and that NEVER causes liver damage.

And really, after all the episodes where he sometimes detoxs, or had to cath himself, can you honestly say it "glamorizes" it?

@Jason Williams: That's true...technically they're still on the market, but when the advisory panel rules on something, the FDA almost always enforces it.

Relax people. This action is all about the acetaminophen (Tylenol), not the narcotic ingredients.

If they go through with the recommendation, the only effect will be to remove the acetaminophen from Vicodin and Percocet; the synthetic codeines will be the only ingredient.

This doesn't apply in Canada, right? The FDA has no juristiction? So I can still have it?

Oddly enough, up here they're trying to regulate tylenol. Which I'm fine with, but don't fuck with the good stuff.

@Helennellieforsythe: Tylenol is especially toxic to liver after a night of drinking. My friend's alcoholic sister in law died from taking tylenol after a bender.

I think it should be banned because Tylenol doesn't work.

@momof3wildkids: Ummm.. yeah, acetaminophen DOES work. It's just that it's a risky drug. It is an antipyretic, (still the most opular one for kids), and an analgesic (still the preferred one in uncomplicated osteoarthritis), but it's downside, is that it has a narrow therapeutic index (the difference between effective dose and toxic dose). Banning it would definitely decrease the number of OD deaths I would have to deal with every year. Because people are buffoons, and won't read about what the stuff can do to you, and some folks with psych illnesses KNOW how bad it is, and use it to hurt themselves on purpose. But it still is useful to people who pay attention to its limitations.
