I read the book a few years back and was fairly disappointed. I felt that it could have been something much better. I was surprised after hearing such rave reviews.
I saw Lovely Bones . It's horrible. An afterschool special meets a Skittles commercial. The girl from Atonement is good. But Mark Wahlberg is awful....in a really bad wig. Susan Sarandon is there for some reason too.
I just had a thought--what if...no, life could not be this kind, but if there is a Santa Claus: I really, really, really want Kathryn Bigelow (the former Mrs. James Cameron) to be nominated for Best Director for The Hurt Locker while Avatar is simpering in its last days of theatrical release before being lost to DVD obscurity.
I've been a good girl! I deserve this! Bigelow deserves it even more!
@oudemia: Her IMDb bio says she was married to Cameron for a short time in the late 80s/early 90s. I really think she has him beat as a director comin' and a goin'.
@oudemia: "If there's specific resistance to women making movies, I just choose to ignore that as an obstacle for two reasons: I can't change my gender, and I refuse to stop making movies. It's irrelevant who or what directed a movie, the important thing is that you either respond to it or you don't. There should be more women directing; I think there's just not the awareness that it's really possible. It is." ~~Kathryn Bigelow
How long before there is a porn version of this movie? "The Lusty B--" No, I am not going there--it's the holidays and I have to learn to abstain in all forms...
@twoeightnine: (see previous post, please)...I may have abstained from the entire thing. And just for the sake of curiosity, 289, are you telling me no one worked the word "Boner" into the title? Because if that's what you're saying it is malfeasance of a level that may well require a class-action lawsuit on behalf of people like me who thrive on bad porn titles derived from conventional cinema.
Ok, I didn't watch last night and I don't know when that pic up there is from, but Jesus Christ. Why didn't I appreciate this woman when I was like 15? Has she actually gotten more attractive now that she's 48 or whatever?
Not one item about an actual comic book? And this is supposed to be a guide for posing as a nerd? Late to the party, buddy. (Although mainstream Hollywood has discovered Comicon as a promotional tool, there are still panels about stories printed on paper that haven't even been optioned for movies yet!) PS: I went to Comicon for at least 10 years in a row and recall the squalor of the Hotel San Diego.
You also forgot everything about Alice in Wonderland. Johnny Depp showed up. And so did David Tennant, to the Doctor Who panel. (Not that I would know from, like, personal experience... or anything.)
