"Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump are the picture of bliss as they dance and pose at their wedding, where all eyes were on the bride."
1. They aren't dancing in that picture.
2. Who doesn't enjoy dancing and posing? I'm doing it right now!
3. Burn, Jared, nobody was looking at you. #jaredkushner
Photos of Ivana and her gigolo semi-husband getting drunk on expensive but wretched Champagne and trying to pick up the same Observer ad exec please! #weddings
If you read the Post story's comments there is a commenter "Fat Clemenza" who exclaims that wedding guest Jim McGreevey is dating Liza Minnelli. #weddings
Bonus points for camera phone video of Kanye blurting out "I'mma gonna let you finish, but the Minelli/Gest wedding was the best wedding evah!" right before the vows. #weddings
That's a screenshot of my flickr page. I live near the scene and was there before the real reporters showed up and left when they got there. I thought my photos were helpful to the reporting of the scene and gave good context of the rescue and recovery effort. They are not crash porn. I understand your point but my intention was not to be a stah. The photos were not sold and I received no money. -JD
@ClaraMaynooth: I thought the picture was important and great, and not "Crash Porn" on your part of documenting the incident. It became "porn" when the AP was so desperate for something, they hit you up for rights to it, getting ready to shill for cash. I'll correct with a link. Apologies if you took any offense!
@RonnSicTorossian: Yeah, my thoughts too. The only people who had footage of anything were the people at the scene when it happened. The wreckage apparently sank right away. At least they're willing to pay someone for it, so I don't really get why it's bad.
Sorry, folks-- if it's his nickname, he needs to put the kibosh on it and fast. ESPECIALLY if he is a cop, excuse me, peace officer, in a racially diverse city. Calling yourself Whitey, no matter what the reason, is no way to promote the peace. If you can't understand that, then you're part of the problem.
@VeeKaChu: Also, to clarify: my comment is about keeping the nickname, not about the plates. Though if the posts are correct about "Whitey" being his nickname, then pretending that "Why-Tee" refers to anything but "Whitey" is disingenuous.
Uh, maybe he shouldn't of used his nickname as his license plate number. Its not the photo-taker's fault he had a brainfart while getting a license plate. Most people, obviously, wouldnt get the connection, since you know, everyone on the planet doesnt know the guy. Either way, growing up around a diverse mix of people doesn't necessarily exclude you from needing to be "clued in".
Um, if you guys look at the picture closely, the vehicle is parked in no parking, he is probably writing the car a ticket and this is just a "set up pic" by the dipshit student.
I know this officer very well. He needs no "cluing in" on race relations. He grew up in public housing surrounded by the racial diversity Cambridge is known for, including many African-Americans, Jamaican-Americans, Haitian-Americans, Italian-Americans, and Irish-Americans. He was given the name at a young age by folks in the neighborhood because his hair was so light as a kid. He has worked his entire career, from the time he was a youth center counselor to his appointment to the Cambridge Police, to teach young people the value of friendships that transcend race and to bring the city's neighborhoods together. I have watched Whitey many time diffuse delicate and charged situations with a sincerity, good humor, and diplomacy that few people possess. Perhaps above all, he is an outstanding and dedicated father who works very hard to support his family and his community.
While I appreciate the value of online forums and rely on many blogs to get my news, I am continually uncomfortable with speculation and comments about people and situations many know nothing about. It is easy to lambaste someone like Whitey without giving pause to the accuracy and virulent nature of the post.
i have plenty of problems with what happened here in cambridge last week, and i'm much more sympathetic to gates than crowley. but this is just silliness. clueless, really.
michael "whitey" daniliuk is a good good friend of mine and my family and many cantabridgians of all stripes. he grew up as a very fair ukrainian kid IN THE PROJECTS, hence the nickname. he's about as far from a racist as you can get -- among other things, he worked serving unprivileged youth (many "of color") for well over a decade in cambridge teen centers -- and the funny thing is, he's probably one of the few cops on the CPD who would even THINK about breaking rank to get behind the perspective that racial profiling is real and so is police abuse of power.
c'mon, dude. you could have asked him. what do you expect? that he should change his license plate in light of this week's events, despite having had this nickname for 30 years.
i'm all for holding the CPD accountable, but this is dumb and unfair.
