For some reason, Michelle Obama looks more beautiful in that picture than I think she's ever looked.

    Well done, First Family.

Its been almost a year, and yet when I see a photo of them altogether like this I still do a double take in amazement that this family actually lives in the White House. And I'm going home in two weeks to a place where a significant part of the population sees this photo as their worst nightmare come to life. America is a crazy, wonderful place.

This is weird, or maybe not so weird, but what popped into my head when I first saw this picture was the famous Iwo Jima flag-raising photo. It has the same kind of connectedness, the same kind of cooperative action, and a sort of "en media res" arrest that makes me think of rising ambitions.

Why is it that radio hosts who try to be funny are never funny? That goes for Howard, too. The wit never rises above the junior-high level. Is that because people who are truly funny have better things to do with their talent than entertain between time, traffic, and weather checks?

@TheBusinessGuy: You are so right. It's like being an unfunny idiot who tries too hard is some kind of prerequisite for all radio hosts. I think it's because the pay, unless you make it to some super high level in a huge market, is incredibly low.

Gotta love the "morning zoo" antics. Wonder what Uncle Paulie and the Turdman are cooking up for tomorrrow. Calling Tiger's house at 6 a.m. and getting their "news reporter" Meredith to pretend to be an Atlantic City cocktail waitress?

@Banjo-Sea Kitten: I am reminded of the security guards in the hospital where I work...I know, I know it is a thankless job and all but MAN they are useless. It is not an exaggeration to say they sit in the cafe all day and eat donuts, and talk loudly about their booze benders the night before ("I drank like 13 of those purple jello shooters at Nitecrawlers!"), plus they each weigh a minimum of 300 pounds and none is taller than 4'11"

@jaxdesert: Aw. What a job though. You're bored out of your wits 85 percent of the time and then next thing you know you're on the global news in a hostage situation.

I suppose just having them there is a crime deterrent. Studies have been done, yes?

@Banjo-Sea Kitten: Good point. And to be fair, there was a fatal shooting here and it can't be easy running across campus after a known killer with a gun. I'd for SURE be running the other way and pushing over little old ladies.

Oh, c'mon. At this point, it's no one's business anymore. There are no criminal charges and he is only getting a citation. I disagree that Tiger presented a golden boy image. He was a golf nerd who appeared in Cadillac ads. I never knew much about his private life and never cared to know. I never thought he was well behaved, I just thought he was boring. You could probably add up all of the athletes who weren't getting some on the side on one hand. This is just a witch hunt now.

    That's hilare.

I'm loving the delicious irony of a sports star presenting himself as squeaky clean and untouchable with the maelstrom that's happening around him.
