David Foster Wallace's Federer piece was obviously one of the most memorable articles, but didn't Michael Lewis also contribute a substantial portion of his Blind Side work to the mag? And I forget who wrote it, but the article on Nastia Liukin and her endorsements was engaging and informative (and I adored the Nielsen ad buys in that issue - gave me good "DID YOU KNOW?" fodder for weeks. Don't I sound fun to hang out with?)

I could go on, clearly. This makes me sad. As a sports freakazoid it's hard to find these sorts of longform essays and pieces of reporting anyplace else. (sniffles)
