Kanye's fans love Kanye more than ever, Swift's fans likewise, Beyonce, likewise. I say it's a fix. Point Moylan. Rushfield, you are the naif here, clearly.
Hmm.. maybe the only one who knew the plan was K-Suck and the production people. Would explain salty Swiftian tears and gen-u-wine surprise. Anywho, the whole thing smacks of more rabble-rousing to drive wedges between people. And yes, MoyField, Socrates would be proud.
Alll I know is those awards were blocking traffic yesterday morning with their little concert on top of the Radio City marquee and it was highly annoying.
Even if it is fake, which I'm open to the idea, the whole thing couldn't have been worse timing.
The "I'm not racist, but Obama's a Kenyan Muslim witchdoctor!" people I know are already decrying how an evil black man could do such a thing to such a sweet, innocent, white teen.
As someone who was at the VMAs & in the pit where I could see offstage, there was no need for the "acting" or Taylor legitimately crying & being hugged and consoled by the trophy girls & getting her back rubbed by a production person, if this was staged. We were already at commercial & they were offstage where no one in the audience could see.
Kanye West really just is a giant douchebag. My surprise level is at zero right now.
@gladys_kravitz: regardless of the opinion on whether or not she should've won doesn't really matter (but I mean, let's face it, when was the last time that MTV had credibility on what makes a good video?), but the fact of the matter is she's a 19 year old girl that just got humiliated by one of the most popular musicians out there right now. with the amount of emotions running in her at that moment I'm surprised she could keep herself composed enough to at least wait until she got offstage.
@blamenotmylute: My comment was only about the cheesy name of the song since you mentioned tears. Of course she had every reason to be upset. Poor thing. Kanye is a huge douche to do that to anyone let alone a teenager.
@blamenotmylute: Oh, I get it, you're a Facebook person who doesn't like the big meanies here. It was a joke, asshole. Old school commenters would get that so I wouldn't have felt compelled to post again to say of course I feel bad for the poor girl.
@gladys_kravitz: no no no no no, i was not saying you were mean, it was supposed to be a bit of song title camaraderie with the picture. my comment was a bit of a rant, not directed at you. i didn't realize it could come across that way. ...guess my joke wasn't picked up on; i knew yours was.
Can you people stop doing Kanye West favors and writing about this? If it was staged or not--and even if he was right in pointing out the stronger video lost--the joke is on everyone else: the media, who keeps writing about him, and the pageviews he generates by everyone clicking on the story...
@sweetpickles: Please. It's news, however you look at it. It's also an entertainment piece. And it's also a chance to bash a celebrity. These are like, all of our favorite things here.
And although this and other stories may raise his 'brand' awareness, if you will, I don't think all the Kanye-is-a-douchebag talk is necessarily going to increase any of his album sales.
In her post-event press, she says "I was excited to be onstage because I just won the award. And then I was excited that Kanye West was onstage." So, that probably explains why she gave up the microphone.
If it was staged, it has clearly backfired on Kanye and shows equally as bad judgment as him dissing the girl because it alienated the crossover audience.
As for the Eminem/Bruno thing, I wasn't aware of it until today. But, Eminem has had lyrical issues with the gay community in the past, which he's tried to publicly soften, including the time he performed a duet with Elton John at a previous MTV event during the height of the controversy.

Evidence against: Taylor's reaction
Is it possible that Taylor was not in on the plan?
