For fuck's sake, he's probably 90% responsible for getting her on the air. She's grateful, he looks brilliant, there's absolutely no basis in fact for this speculation, and none is foreseeable due to the fact that he's now followed by an agreeable acolyte rather than a jealous member of the old NBC guard.

Something tells me Hamilton is angling for a Worst Person mention.

Can she lose her sense of smell, but gain an increase in her sense of taste? I always wondered what would happen if your brain made everything taste like chick - fil - A sandwiches. This I think would make up for most every other failing, ever.

I don't know the answer, but I think that for most people, smell is a big part of the eating experience. You don't realize it until you have a cold or something that shuts down your sense of smell.

Appetite also is a huge part; once I got sick or was on a medication and I briefly lost my appetite. I'd always thought it would be great not to be hungry and I'd painlessly lose a couple of pounds. It was agony. I also understood why people treated for terminal illnesses with certain meds lose so much weight.

Be careful what you wish for.

@downlow: Not to be too nerdy, but loss of sense of smell may, potentially, signal greater issues. Low olfactory senses have been linked by some scientists to dementias such as Alzheimers. Nothing has been proven, granted. But, I cringe a little when I hear of scent and mental issues.

Stop with the Rachel Maddow is normal person thing.

Maddow has a degree in public policy from Stanford University, was awarded the prestigious John Gardner Fellowship. was a Rhodes Fucking Scholar. She's also had a host of media related jobs (radio, etc.).

Sure, she's great, and it's nice to have someone with an intellect, not just a blowhard (lib or conservative). But really, she's not just little normal Rachel.

If I were a lesbian, RM would definitely be my role model. But she's hardly average or ordinary.
