Now that they have a black dork, they don't know what to do.
It's like having Urkle become president.

Obama has the immunity idol with many white Americans. They can't see him as 'nerdy'...they think of him more as 'scholarly' or 'professorial'.
The 'Urkle' thing definitely works for some of the black folks I know. We spent a wonderful evening not too long ago at a comedy club watching a black comedian do an hilarious Obama impersonation. The comedian had Obama moving stiffly ala Robocop or one of the old animated Harryhausen monsters. The Obama head movement was especially stiff and incremental as the comedian made hilarious hydraulic sound effects. He delivered Obama's talking voice as curiously clipped and 'sound bitey'.
I found it dead to rights and otherwise hysterical. Most of the other white folk apparently didn't as they 'tittered' obligingly. And these the same white folk who'd laughed especially hard at other black comedians earlier.
It's the same curiously deferential behavior I've noticed in many American whites before. Whitey just can't seem to react naturally to black folk. In the U.S.A., there's an appeasement or pacification element in the behavior of many whites towards blacks that I believe is intended to come across as 'just' or 'enlightened', but ultimately draws from the same well of self-deception as negative prejudice. SNL has picked up on this with rare satirical perception in the Press's ridiculously deferential towards Barack Obama.
Ultimately however, we're moving towards a better society when the same five white guys who two hundred years ago might have been moving to lynch Obama are instead bonking heads like coconuts as they simultaneously bend down to kiss Obama's ass like Mac 'n Tosh, those ridiculous over-polite cartoon gophers.
I may get a sense of vertigo when I stand too close to an abyss of such unrepentant ass-lickers, but I understand it as the price of social progress.

i do find obama to be fucking brilliant, scholarly and professorial; smarter even maybe than bill clinton and far more honorable, and hotter, too.

Your earlier response was not yet on my screen at the time I was writing my 12:22 PM post. My response was to the OP.
And I believe I'll bring up the issue of undue 'deference' whenever it seems to be indicated, and I'm otherwise interested in doing so.
