he REALLY did look tired... he needs some rest. Other than that, I think the press conference went well. I love how he refused to answer Candy Crowley - even though she's awesome.

She's basically been stalking him for CNN for 2 years... so she gets major props.

Dear God. I feel like I just sent my child into nursery school for the first time. I was that concerned about how he would do. I think he did fine. He was a little apprehensive, nervous even, not cocky, and really listened to everything. Basically, really wonderful and human. I grimaced a bit about the mutt bit, but it came off charming, not a strange comment about the heritage of biracial persons or dogs, which I'm hoping is taken in the light intended, but you know there are those who'll get all sensitive.

All in all, exactly what I expected him to be

Well, that was pleasant enough but I didn't hear a whole lot of substantive detail. I just hope he's a quick study because the steaming pile of dog-shit Bush is leaving on his doorstep is going to take a lot of fucking work to clean up.

@SinisterRouge: True. But everyone is skittish and he could have sounded a bit more reassuring. I mean, if you're holding your first press conference for the express purpose of discussing your plans for dealing with the current economic crisis, maybe you should actually talk about those plans, as opposed to just saying, we're gonna deal with the problems when I assume office. But I hear you. I'm just sayin...

@bjonston: He was reassuring as he needs to be, for someone who isn't the President yet. He said if the lame duck Congress can't get it together to use the stimulus pacakge, that will be the first thing on his list when he IS the president. That's all he needs to say right now.

    I'm watching this on MSNBC.

-- What a goddam charming man. And genuinely so. It is bizarre how much he has in common with Reagan in the personal charisma category, considering how different he will be, policy-wise.

-- I wonder if Chris Matthews will still be wiping up his spontaneous auto-jizz when this is over.

-- Sorry for putting the image of Chris Matthew jizzing in anyone's head.

@bjonston: No contest! And I like Clinton -- he is charming. But charm to me, is more of a manufactured likeability, and I do feel like Clinton is always wooing, always actively drawing people in. Whereas with Obama, people are drawn to him, because he's naturally likeable. I mean, I get that he's a politician and he is self-aware and his choices are deliberate, but their appeal seems different to me.

@SarahHeartburn: Yep. From the epic Newsweek story:

There was no doubting their physical attraction. Reporters liked to snicker at how much looser the candidate seemed after spending the occasional night at home or on the road with his wife.

Just think. Some day, Sascha and Malia will grow up and read this and think Ewwww!!!
