I used to work across the street from the old Daily News building on E42nd. I always get a little thrill-chill whenever Chris Reeves' Superman comes on, and I get a glimpse of the building and the neighborhood.

Somehow, this story just isn't giving me the same goosebumps.

I hope there's a part where Owen Wilson tells his editor that he doesn't feel like writing news anymore and he'd rather write a column about his DOG and Eva Mendes writes a gossip column for the Post and falls for Hancock?

Husband v. wife assassination attempts? So... it's like a one-way "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", except with Jennifer Aniston? Hm.

Best recent movie set in a NY newspaper was "The Paper" with Michael Keaton, check it out if it cones on TV or you have Netflix.

@jbk: I loved that movie, and most of my friends in the print biz say it wasn't bad, save for that Ron Howard made the metro editor the "hero".

@jbk: I remember that - I was in college, studying journalism at the time. I haven't seen it since it came out, but I'm sure I would enjoy it even more now with some real-world experience.

@jbk: only if you consider 1994 "recent".

Hopefully it'll be more interesting than that excruciatingly boring reality show set at the Daily News from a few years ago.

@sarrible: You're thinking of Tabloid Wars, the viewership of which accurately reflects how many people care about the backstage of a newspaper: nil.

@Foster Kamer: I think I watched half of one episode. To be fair, I've worked backstage at newspapers. Even the one in college was more interesting than Tabloid Wars.

This is like when they filmed The Soloist at the LAT offices and the set designers brought in more clutter and posters for liberal causes to make it look more newsy.
