Hey Steven Zeitchik and Alex Carnevale, you can't be "tastemakers" or tastebreakers for something you haven't seen.
After all this smoke you're creating clears, it'll be obvious it was generated by your burning reputations.

"How gay is it?"
"It's so gay, it physically has sex with other films."

I can't wait to see it this weekend!

I am so tired of the whole "sanctity of marriage" "if gays get married, where does it stop" bullshit.
If they succeed in "defining marriage as between a man and a woman", where will they stop? Only people of the same race can get married? Only people of the same religion can get married? Only knocked up teenagers can get married?
It's a grim precedent.

No offense to Mr. Keitel. I mean, Mr. White. Sir.

There are a number of great out actors, but they're all British and at least 137 years old.

And the reason why there aren't any gay actors with stature is because they won't come out of the closet cause they're scared they won't get parts, which in turn makes them play gay roles so people will be conviced they're str8. Any questions?

But, Large Marge, I do think saying it's like white people in black-face is a bit of a stretch. I have no problem with gay people playing straight people, and don't think that's a negative reflection of straight culture in any way. I don't think straights should stop playing gay roles entirely, it would just be nice if we saw more of a mix is all. Kind of like I don't mind when Brits play Americans and vice versa. It is acting, after all! If you're good in a role, you should get to play it! I do, however, find it despicable that all the closeted ones are terrified of playing roles that reflect their own sexuality.

I do agree that w/out Penn, there would be no actor strong enough to carry the film. However, I equally feel that as Large Marge suggested, if more gays were given the option to play realistic gay roles, more would and their status would be lifted. Part of the problem is that up until 5 or so years ago, people couldn't be out in Hollywood and still work in front of the camera. Roles like this played by gay actors could help remedy that.

I do not have a problem w/straights in general playing gays. However, NOW that more acceptance has been realized, it's time to act on that and let's see a major Hollywood production let a gay play a gay.
Btw, my favorite acting statement ever was when the man who played Keith on 6'Under (whose name escapes me) replied to the question of "what's it like to play a gay man" by answering "why would you even ask me that? Would you ask me what it's like to play a police man, or a doctor?"
Here's the thing, these films, though entertaining, are also political by default due to being in such infancy. They do send a message of acceptance. So, why the hell not take it one step further and actually practice that message?

This just proves they're a bunch of homophobic shits.
