    His step-son, Jeffry, will turn 40 next year.
    It seems to me that the 'Stoner Kid' moniker is a bit misleading.

    How is this a problem? So he has a step-son who has some sort of a drug addiction. Has he ever used his position as police chief to get an easier sentence for the kid? Doesn't sound like it. And he's likely to say his family's experience is part of why he wants to fight drugs in a realistic way.

    @pmarble: I agree. I think his position may very well have something to do with insight he may have gained, based on his family situation.
