Rick Warren Doesn't Believe Terrible Things He Said About Gays
Bigot Pastor Will Pray At Inaugural

I think the problem is that this dipshit got his theology degree out of a box of Cracker Jacks. The only thing that would make his quote more perfect would be if he'd defined marriage as between a white man and a white woman. Because that's how a lot of his fellow evangelical "Christians" would have defined marriage 40 years ago.

Really? Cuz i still believe he's a bloated, pompous gasbag who should be held down and anally raped to death by tweaking midget Somali pirates.

probably the earliest forms of marriage that we know about is Hindu, which starts with invocation of the Lord Ganesh (the elephantine god of wisdom) and invoking the names of the planets and all kinds of shit that would freak out the typical homophobic redneck.
Oh and dowry. Most early forms of marriage involved a financial transaction of some kind -- typically (but not always) to the in-laws of the family inheriting the "burden" of a woman into the clan -- because 5,000 years ago and even more recently, marriage has been really just a way of ensuring a guy isn't cuckolded by some freeloading whore passing off somebody else's kid as her new husband's burden.
This guy is an idiot if he think marriage has been some immutable, universally static thing for five millennium involving white wedding gowns with one God fearing hillbilly stuffing cake into the cake-hole of the significant other while everyone throws rice.

Thus Warren's reaction to the above is likely to be, "Your lips are moving, yet the words make no sense."

If Tim Gunn and Michael Kors were present, they'd be saying, "Matchy, matchy!" in unison.
Despicable fashion sense to match a despicable point of view.

Warren provides yet another arrow in the slings for those regarding the religious as anti-intellectual.

He's doing a terrible job, it's much easier to say "I looked at what I said and I think it was wrong" than to blame it on others. But I do give him credit for trying. I'll give him more credit if he TRIES HARDER.

"We need to grow our business." I hate that one.

Incidentally, I recently met a salesman at a home store named Esau who had a common Arabic last name. He was a nice guy, probably gay, very handsome. But his name startled me, as a Jew: do we, Jews, use that name? I was taught that, besides his other qualities that are more readily discerned in the Pentateuch, Esau was a murderer who would have killed his brother on their reunion (the sources supporting such an interpretation are at least 2,000 years old, even if the texts themselves are more recent). Is Esau’s character different in Islam? Do Christians name their sons Esau?

Well, all right! No mention of women having multiple husbands. My noble quest continues...
