@chatwin: ok, but this is my problem. there is this whole movement to discount publicists through every single thing they do or say. yet no one is able to tear apart the blog posts that exist and are viewed as "truthful reporting." again, i'm not even talking about this specific story because i don't know the specifics. but i do know this: bloggers and internet journalists rarely, if ever, fact check even the simplest things with PR people. they post "news" and "information" without anyone calling them out on accountability. publicists are ridiculed; print journalists can be fired if they write the wrong information, yet bloggers (who are the future of journalism) have little to no regulations or repercussions. the fact is bloggers and internet reporters have such a responsibility to be the "first" with everything that they don't always get the facts straight. i'm not talking about exposing big business here, i'm talking about fair give and take and that does not exist on the internet. and lastly, there is no editorial independence so long as advertising exists.
@YonMoor: Gawker is fell of cants? Gawker is fill if cents?

Oh, by the way, in the line "She can't possibly have met 'ethics,'" I believe "met" should read "meant."
