    I think the nutria generally has kind of a dull single-color coat rather than the dappled thing above, though.

    I've been wrong before, though.

    it is rather obviously not a decapitated swine.

    a - it is clearly in the process of molting a thick coat of dark hair (which falls off in the water soon into decomposition)
    b - it is not very thoroughly decapitated, whatever it is.
    c - if you squint you can see its tail is thicker and longer than a pig, more like a dog.

    the real question might soon become who keeps killing these ugly ass dogs in montauk..

    @MauriceBabanacka:

    Many hogs have course hair that needs to be burned off during the butchering process. Not all piggies are cute little pinks things.

    Nothing like attending hog butchering season in Missouri durint the '60s to glean all these useless facts.

    I'm going to start a rumor that this (Pig People) is what happens in the last stages of fatal swine flu and that the government's been dumping the body. Then ask people to donate to my investigation through PayPal.

    @miss_msry: I don't know...there is the Plum Island Lab a few miles away from Montauk and they do some pretty freaky experiments there. My uncle (who is a vet that used to work at Plum Island) said it looked like a deformed Pitbull. I could totally see it.

    Lots of science experiments are performed on swine because their systems somehow are almost like humans. Go figure.

    @badasscat:

    The tail seems canine rather than porcine, though. And there may be some post mortem bloating.

    As people suggested last summer, this could involve dogfighting and other forms of animal abuse.
