Maybe it's a little off-topic, but nowadays it seems that it's fairly impossible to shock people. Or is it just me? There were probably many who said that it was impossible to shock (sexually) after the Marquis de Sade.

By the time I got my used Grove copy of Naked Lunch, it was well-thumbed and had obviously gotten a lot of prurient views. But I disinfected it thoroughly, read it down in three days, and my mind was blown forever. Thanks, Mr. Seaver.
