It was worth whatever it cost to see otherwise jaded New Yorkers climbing up lightposts to get a glimps of the Obamas, crowds a dozen deep cheering when they emerged from the restaurant. I've never seen anything like that since we cheered on the firefighters going to and from the pit. This President is genuinely loved, admired and respected and that's what's driving the wingnuts mad.

Um, it goes like this...Barack Obama is our President. He must be protected at all times. He is entitled to do whatever he pleases. Going to NY for dinner and a Broadway show is just typical family stuff, nothing extraordinary, did just that myself just the other day. He is working hard to straighten out our country for us. Are you haters saying that he should be chained to his desk to wallow in the corruption W gave us all? It is so demoralizing to constantly hear all of these haters and sh*t-stirrers pointificating on their "pseudo" issues. Americans do not love each other anymore. : (

So Obama took his wife to the theater in New York, after working his ass off on the disaster that is America after 8 years of Republican fuckupery.

Meanwhile, by this time in his term, Bush had already taken close to 6 weeks off already making theater. Think that dick was an old ranch hand with a deep and abiding connection to the land? Bullshit.

Bush hasn't been back to Crawford since he left office and he'll never go again. His sole purpose for setting up the Redneck White House in the vicinity of Waco was to draw a sad parallel with that other actor-hack Ron Reagan and try to pawn off the highly unlikely proposition that George W was anything but a puffed up alcoholic frat boy pussy.

The comparison is not fine when you are talking to a liberal such as myself who thought it was not a great move. I see the point on the NYC economy. And I also agree that it is the price of doing business since he needs security and travel costs. Either way, I think the guy is doing a great job. This one thing to meet looked like a bad PR move. But hey, he has to say "screw it, I'm President" every once in a while too right?

Okay, yet another case of the dreaded liberal straw man being built. If Bush did something, the George Bush who is NO LONGER PRESIDENT, it makes it okay for the current president to do it. The one who said he was for everything that Bush wasn't.

So because Bush spent too much money, never claiming money was tight for the government, it is okay for Obama to blow 30 grand in 2 days? When he campaigned that his country was on the brink of financial ruin? When he maligned CEO's for spending lavishly as their companies went bankrupt, he does the same damn thing?

Who made The Cajun Boy a writer anyway? He was a subpar commenter from way back, he has moved up to subpar writer. Don't we at least deserve a Cajun Man?

@BonMorte: It's not a straw man. The same people who were quiet about Bush's ridiculous number of vacation days and obscene amounts spent on those vacations are now loudly decrying the Obama's night out.

And as posted in other places, they actually paid for their own dinner and the show. So, essentially, the only expense is the one mandated by the Secret Service.

As far as The Cajun Boy goes, he's also the one who broke the Mancow story last week. You know, the story that was highly critical of the OMGLUBRULSOCIALIST!!!1! types you constantly come here to complain about.

@theMoJo: Where did I say it was a -ok? Anywhere? Oh, nowhere. Conservatives DID lament Bush and his profligate spending, it pretty much ruined the republican party. I am telling you right now, without reservation, I hated watching him spend money on wars and trips and social programs to get people to like him. Not one bit of it makes Obama and his spending any better.

That is the difference between sheep like yourself and these other "thoughtful" replies I recieved. I can actually critique something my party did, and mean it.
Obama could have burned a million dollars on the capital steps and you'd say he was fighting inflation.

The most annoying thing is all of the Cajun Boy's articles are the same thing: Obama good. This is what happens when southern transplants move north. They sooo want their northern liberal friends to know they aren't liked grandpappy cajun boy, lynching nergros and all. So everything white/southern they go out of their way to denigrate. Yawn.
