Oh please. Uruguay and Argentina's Rio De La Plata area is beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous, actually. Fools.

It's a shame what those goddamned bugs did to that city.

This post is incredibly naive/uninformed. It is tantamount to showing a picture of Industrial Redhook with the exclamation: Scenic Brooklyn! Come visit NYC!

BA is a huge tourist destination, and with good reason. It's beautiful.

@SherlockDandoo: I live in Brooklyn. I love living in Brooklyn. I think you should visit some time. But I'm not going to say you should come here for the scenic waterfront.

    Cleveland called.

    They want their riverfront back.

    Or not.

I'll give this guy points for picking a great locale for a secret getaway -- Bs.As. is one of the most awesome cities in the world. It's like Paris, except the people are nice, the weather is warm, and everything is cheap. Which is to say it's nothing like Paris, I guess.

@TheRtHonPM: Warm? Since it's winter in the southern hemisphere, it's currently a chilly 52°.

I would imagine it might be easy, over a poor international phone connection, to confuse "I'm after Argentinian Tail" with "I'm off for the Appalachian Trail".

In my one trip to Buenos Aires, my taxi driver said a lot of the restaurants on a posher section of the waterfront are primarily means of laundering drug money. Most of them weren't too crowded.

@Smitros: You clearly have a way with reliable sources. Just curious--did he tell you this before or after he said "Look at that filly in the miniskirt! And then they complain about rape... HEY LITTLE FUCKER GET THAT SQUEEGE OFF MY WINDSHIELD. Fucking homeless. They're all Bolivian illegals. You know, with the military in power these things just didn't happen."

None of that, actually. He was the son of Ukrainian immigrants who was generally disgusted with the lack of social capital in the country.

Thanks to posts like this, I bet Sanford's speech-writing team is frantically doing re-write as we speak as to exactly where he was in Argentina.
