In reply to Amanda's Return Fails to Save Dying Melrose Place
Ok, I didn't watch last night and I don't know when that pic up there is from, but Jesus Christ. Why didn't I appreciate this woman when I was like 15? Has she actually gotten more attractive now that she's 48 or whatever?

MP needs to find some interesting characters immediately. We already know Augie and Lipsyncha are going, but the blond guy and the doctor/whore are boresville as well. The "normal" couple are boring, but they are supposed to be, so they should stay. The only interesting character, at least from a nighttime soap perspective, is the lesbian "bitch." A character like Christian Siriano would be a great addition. Someone with a mysterious quasi-military role would be interesting. Likewise, a Persian JAP. And make it more like David Lynch's Mullholland Drive.

@jimstoic: Is she actually a lesbian? Might have missed something, but I just figured from last night's girl/girl snog that she's just someone who knows which cards to play and when.

@terrible: I'm pretty sure she's supposed to be bi; she obviously enjoys the males, as evidenced by her love for the boring man, but they also had her hooking up with a girl at a party in one of the earliest episodes.

So, which is it? Heather Locklear increases Melrose ratings by 15% last night and it's a dismal failure. Jay Leno is up 5% and Wow!

As I recall, she is credited with saving the show the first time round when ratings were low. I highly doubt she did it overnight - after but one appearance.

@shle896: I guess it depends on the numbers you're starting out with, but fifteen percent seems like a decent percentage to me. Give Amanda a little more credit!

Biden was the most inscrutable choice, ever, for VP. Instead of "change" Obama brought out an old hack, who had trouble with both truth telling, even during the campaign, and with inserting his foot into his mouth. Oh, to know what kind of negotiation that was, to get him on the ticket---except, perhaps to allay terrified old white guys who feared a woman and a (half)black man on the ticket would bring on the apocalypse. #joebiden

apparently I am in the minority, but I love Joe Biden! I think he's like the lovable Steve Urkel of the White House. He comes in, says stupid stuff, knocks shit over, and is like "Did I do that?" Oh Joe. #joebiden

Joe Biden is everything thats wrong and fucked up with congress. This dope won his seat in the Senate when he was 29 and has never had another job until being VP. He has learned about as much about how the country works from his perch in DC as Palin learned about Russia from staring at it. He is walking proof we need term limits.

And he doesn't drink. I don't trust people who don't drink, unless they've already been alcoholics. #joebiden

Why is it that I feel compelled to defend Gawker's subject matter against the editors/writers at least once a day lately?

Either this new crop of staff writers is utterly fucked, or the editorial direction has taken a nosedive, or both.

Is there some negative correlation between the quality of stories and the quality of AJAX/CSS? #joebiden

I should have added before that it could well be my OS and browser causing headaches most readers don't experience. And in all fairness, I haven't been reading long enough to judge contemporary content against the past. #joebiden

Not sure what point you're trying to make, Amrita... that you think Cheney's worldview makes some sense? That Cheney was initially popular, before everything he did brought his popularity rating to a low of 28%? I love it that Biden is willing to call a moron a moron. This is a ridiculous post. #joebiden

I'm absolutely NOT a supporter of ANYTHING Dick says... but, Good Lawwd, Biden, Bin Laden will always BE a part of the issue. I'm sorry, I guess if you had the prez saying this I could understand... but, uh, Joe? Nope.

That being said, why are we posting crap from Fox News anyway - I thought we weren't supposed to take this stuff seriously?

I'm glad that California has discussed the revenue advantages of legalization and I think the "Rainbow Collective" has come up with a fine promotion.

It's nice that the dispensary found a magazine willing to distribute their coupons, but as a pro-reform person who's willing to at least settle for medical marijuana, I kind of have to worry about the way these things might reflect upon the movement as a whole.

Says some future politician in BFE: "Californians can get free dope like it's fries from McDonalds."
