@badasscat: You *are* a badass, cat. Now, any idea who Ferrari P. Ward was, and how he made his fortune? (Noam Chomsky occupied the "Ferrari P. Ward" chair in the 60's and 70's.)
Speaking of Asian-Australian journalism, I just watched The Year of Living Dangerously last night for the first time in ages, and it holds up. Young Gibson hawt, not Jesus-crazy. I'd still rather fuck Linda Hunt than Matt Drudge though, for purely moral reasons. Perhaps in the hot monsoon rain. No kneeling necessary.
"Senior News Corporation figures in the US are openly discussing the unthinkable, that the marriage between Rupert Murdoch and Wendi Deng has broken down and the couple have separated. If Wendi has left Rupert that means there will be two less children to be pushed into the inheritance pot joining four from his first two marriages. There’s supposed to be a trust that contains assets and shares for the four kids. There has been talk that the two children by Wendi were going to be made beneficiaries of part of that trust. But now? Lachie sold News Corp shares last week and is spending money — $112 million on half of DMG Radio Australia, $23 million on a Bellevue Hill mansion in Sydney and now some media assets in the US, led by Hollywood Reporter according to the Financial Times. Elisabeth is building her Shine production company business in the UK, US and next year, Australia. James of course wants to run the family company. Prudence has bowed out and is not active in the media. (Given the nature of this tip, we approached News’s Australian corporate spinner Greg Baxter this morning for comment. He did not reply to our emails.)"
Matt Drudge defines the phrase "bossy bottom" so hence this type of passive-aggressive/aggressive payback at someone who has only helped make him the big star-of-his-own-mind that he is. Completely predictable.
For those confused by the Bossy Bottom phrase: "Hello. Please f*ck me. Here's the instruction manual."
Assuming some of you Garofalos work in media it's disheartening and predictable to see you mock and ridicule one of your industry's brightest hopes for a future in digital.
Not the second round of layoffs at Newseum. At least the third- but don't ask me how I know. They'll come after me but they won't kill me. They'll just force me to watch their "4D" movie until my eyes are pinwheels and I'm sobbing on the floor like Nellie Bly's asylum-mates.
@Bellyboop: Yeah, I thought he was such a damn joke years ago, but now I feel like he overheard me at some party say that and made it his personal mission to win me over. The NPR t-shirt pretty much seals it with a kiss.
@manchops: Me too. I was totally neutral over JT, but man that guy is a quintuple threat - and the kind I like. He's a great musician, singer, dancer, actor and one hella comedian. Hells, when he hosts SNL AND is the musical guest, you have to hand it to him - he's filled with awesome.
I think the Newseum ought to put all those laid off people in a big Plexiglas case in the lobby and display them as an exhibit on current trends in media.
Is it more than a little scary that NPR is just catching up to the world of pop culture and now finds Justin T'lake dreamy? It's like awakening a Kraken after 15 years hungry for Pizza Bagels and new episodes of Blossom.
