Rupert had everything lifted but the fuzz on his drug-addled mind. And this Matt Goldberg guy keeps propping him up and cheering his point, even ahooting down the obvious onslaught of negative feedback in his comments section. He's not just saying this is true; he wants this to be true.

After that farce upstate earlier today, I'm not in the mood for penny-ante crap like this.

for god's sake, don't come out like rupert. you'll be forced into a life of forgetful movies, hobnobbing with the likes of madonna and donatella versace and lamenting how your aging looks can't snare free coke and puerto rican hustlers like they used to. quel dommage, indeed.

@senatormayer: They award commercial viability, not artistic talent. I guess that's not such a bad thing, but do we really need another blown out award show that ignores the true creative innovation happening in this country?

Speaking of being gay having an affect on your career, ABC not only cancelled Adam Lambert on Jimmy Kimmel, they cancelled him on New Year's Rockin' Eve.

It's bullsh*t, but I hope Lambert and Everett can remember there are other important things in life than minor details like earning a living - like love and family and marriage and... oh. Nevermind.

So just where are gays allowed that "pursuit of happiness" thing? I forget.

@bodegacat: Sadly, not in show-business (let's keep it to the industry, and not touch the fact that some would like there to be nowhere that a gay can be happy). I tend to agree that the industry is 'a game' and you have to play it right, that means people like us don't get to know who is gay and who isn't. Some of these people are out to their loved ones, but, PR-wise, it's not a good idea for them to play it that way. People are fucking dumb and afraid and uneducated about sexuality in general--so you get young actors, especially, who just grin and blush coyly about who they're dating. They might actually be happy otherwise, it's just the truth isn't something that's good for business, at least not when it's out in the open. A lot of eyes are on them, and some of those eyes belong to assholes.

@bodegacat: What's sad is that, unlike heterosexuals, homosexuals often have to choose one or the other ("happiness" or "career success"). That said, show business will quickly dispose anything risky at the slightest hint that its fanfare is on the wane.

@bodegacat: Well, remind me to watch more ABC shows, then. Adam Lambert is a talentless hack, nothing more. At least when Madonna does the talentless hack thing she's smart enough to get good song writers who can craft a pop tune out of the five notes she can reliably sing. If Lambert's voice didn't sound like the Sea Hag wielding a chainsaw, maybe I could be in Camp Adam.

Is it possible that someone, somewhere at ABC said "oh lord no, we can't inflict that sonic malady on the public on New Year's Eve?"

Or, let me put it this way. If George Michael, or Rufus Wainwright, or Mika, or even Boy George had performed the song and choreography that got sister Lambert into so much trouble, I would be up in arms if it had cost any of those performers future opportunities.

Also, the understudy was fabulous, so I didn't feel like I'd missed out on much sans Rupert.

How can anyone not worship Kathy Griffin is one of the enduring mysteries of life for me. If she ever starts her own religious cult, I'm packing my 2-tone Nike dunks and following her into the desert.

I will say he's right about Jackson never being able to do 50 shows. Other than that, I'm too distracted by his Fire Marshall Bill neck to read the rest.
