Hooray for the relentless twee-ification of New York! Improv Everywhere is to blame for this, somehow. Anyhow, Gawker Videographer Alex Goldberg attended, and filmed the melee. If, like us, you wondered why you saw fresh-faced youngsters clutching pillows out and about in Manhattan on Saturday night, this should clear things up.

<![CDATA[Looting Serbian Riot Girls Just Sparked Series Of Small Retaliatory Wars]]> serbian-girls-loot-store.pngIn the middle of a political riot in Belgrade, two young Serbian women went looting, looking just like a couple of Mardi Gras sorority girls except for all the stealing of food, shoes and coats from stores. It's so much more aggravating to see them carting off all this stuff than just some regular poor, acting like they're on a perfectly acceptable shopping spree. As alarms go off, the girls (the one in the sweatsuit shows off her tramp stamp!) stuff clothing into their stolen Adidas bags and yell at the cameraman to stop shooting. Watch it and let the hate seethe in you.

The video got over a quarter of a million views since it went up yesterday. The creator says, "I want to say that these persons are just extremes and that they don't represent Serbs as a nation." Which is true! Some of them merely moon CNN.

<![CDATA[Shred The Pain Away At Times Square]]> rubbish.jpgThe Time Square Business Alliance invites all New Yorkers to their hellish playground tomorrow to destroy their baggage, in the both-literal-and-figurative Darjeeling Limited sense. It's "Good Riddance Day," you see, and they've got shredders and garbage trucks at the ready. Show up with old love letters, bounced rent checks, the Bill of Rights, the only documents that prove your arch-nemesis' innocence—anything you need to forget about this terrible year we've all just muddled through. Then they'll shred it and cart it off to Staten Island, the spiritual and physical home of spiritual and physical refuse. You only have an hour, though! Get there before 1 p.m. or else you'll be stuck with that marriage license for another year! Not since the Comiskey Park Disco Demolition Riot of 1979 has there been such a cosmically confused and comically wasteful response to our shared spiritual bankruptcy!

Good Riddance Day [Times Square Alliance]
