    I agree with everything except the last sentence. There's only one richest sportsperson in the world, and that's tiger.

    Any other scandal in the near future will inevitably try to live up to this one and be a letdown.

    I don't know, I think it was unprecedented - well organized, run like a business, employees handling it, regular disbursements made. I've never seen anything on this scale before.

    @hilikusopus: As a Greek-American who once even took a philosophy class, I feel especially qualified to take issue with your implication, H. Though I can't speak directly for Socrates, I can categorically assert that Plato had nothing sexual to do with any of his students. Especially that one Nubian prince with the knee-high sandals, the ass that defied gravity, and the eyelashes that lashed you if you got close enough.

    How, you ask?

    Because all of Plato's relationship were Platonic, of course.

    @TheSometimesWhy: Recovering philosophy major, here. I do believe their ecce-on-ecce love was Platonic, if not explicitly physical....but let's face it, those togas were made for reach-arounds.

    The wikipedia entry on Platonic love (yes, I dare) has a surprisingly well put and succint definition:
    chaste but passionate love, based not on lack of erotic interest but on spiritual transmutation of the sex force, opening up vast expanses of subtler enjoyments than sex.

    That shit sounds so hot to philosophers, you have no idea. I have to go change me toga, now.

    Best of luck with your recovery, by the way. It is a lifelong battle, with the inevitable occasional set-back at a cocktail party when you break into a defense of dialectic materialism while sipping Mad Dog 20/20 from a styrofoam cup, but in the end, you will prevail.

And rather than spend their salaries on lux vacations or yachts & rockets, they should donate the $ to some people who lost their entire retirement savings w/ Bernie's ponzi scheme. Even if they didn't know then, they know now. They have plenty of $ to survive & you bet they have some tucked away in offshore accounts.
