I still have confirmation fatigue from Sotomayor, and even with all the hyperbole from her Republican detractors, her hearings were pretty painless, as those things go. I do not look forward to having to care about something like this again so soon.
In oral arguments all the Justices interrupt each other so much that it is a chore to read a transcript of them (the "..." is used by the court reporter ALOT). Never fear crinkly old white men who have been ruling the country far too long!; the case is mostly over by the time oral arguments come about: through the work of the clerks, the discussions of the Justices and the tons of paper on the case which has already been submitted. Unfunny but TRUE!
well done pareene. posts like this are the reason I keep reading gawker. although, not like the "28-year-old-living-in-Costa-Rica" demographic is a big deal. but still.
But it is a lawyer. Lawyers are some sort of lower humanoid life form similar to politicians. Judges are just a more corrupt form of lawyer - basically a lawyer-politician hybrid.
If the Republicans are smart, they'll block her Senate confirmation just to show Obama he cannot get everything he wants from Congress without their support.
I read this this morning, and it made me like her more. Am I allowed to also say that I like the feisty-ness of Scalia. I can't wait to see her duel with Scalia. I just hope she doesn't get the vapors and faint. Thomas will catch her though.

2. nomination enrages conservative bloviators so much they have a collective brain aneurysm.
3. end obstructionist nonsense and perhaps get on to the business of actual public service.
