I don't know, I actually hate to say it, but I sort of agree with it. A wife who manages his campaigns, goes to bible study groups obsessively and admits publicly that she wasn't really attracted to her husband at first?

That sounds pretty awful to me. Maybe I now understand the attraction to a hot, self-destructive latin lady.

@Pope John Peeps II: In most relationship situations, I have learned to reserve judgment unless I have personal knowledge. Lips Wolff has very little credibility on the issue of fidelity and I put very little faith in the conclusions he has drawn about Mrs. Sander.

@Pope John Peeps II: That's true too - either way, it's wrong for Wolff to say the wife's Bible-thumping was the problem. She was attractive, an heiress, and successful in her own right. She pitches in to help him in his career, they share the Bible-thumping - I dunno, I guess I don't see MW's beef. Not that I want to, in any sense.

I simply think that he's pointing out that one side is embracing Jenny Sanford as a martyr representing all loving, passionate, faithful women; but maybe she's actually one half of a two-sided bad marriage, and she's got her own ambitions and motivations, and they're not all great.

@Pope John Peeps II: It was clearly not a happy marriage. But, with all due respect, her side isn't having an affair - which would have continued had he not been caught - and then hemorrhaging embarrassing information (there were many women? "soul mate"?) that the sons will find out about. Discretion/valor and all that.

PJP, if your significant other cheated on you, would you stand by them (Silda Spitzer, Dina McGreevey) or do more of a Jenny Sanford - or something else?
