I always find it refreshing when the Noisily Pious take a break from shady sexual dealings to mix in a little financial shenanigans. Thanks for the variety!

I always return to my Smelt It, Dealt It theory. At this point, the second I hear someone being too aggressively and loudly "moral", I can only wonder what they are doing behind the scenes.

And it makes me sad for my dad, who, as an atheist, would apparently not be welcome as an elected leader based on all those polls, but who has lived a pretty straight-laced, genuinely decent life of working a job, raising kids the best he could and paying his taxes.

In the day, we sang hymms in the Baptist Church, a few miles above Houston. And one of them sounded strange, even then. In the front and back of the hymnal, there were blank pages for private illustrations.

@Claire Buoyant: You must admit Christian Science is not just a contradiction in terms, it's a foolproof philosophy. If you have good luck, God has blessed you. If you have bad luck, it means God has seen fit to test you, like Job, and he only tests the ones he loves. Tell me where that circle can be broken.

@seyswho: The beauty of the creed is that heaven is for me and all my friends and hell is reserved for them other sects. Every Christian talking about behavior, without exception, is speaking of somebody else's. It all started with Socrates, who believed only philsophers would waft away into the happy hunting ground. And what was the job description of Socrates?

Heaven is for us, is the only scripture.
