    The disappointment here was that either January doesn't naturally have the crispy-snap that Bets Draper has, or for some reason she was directed to not display it on SNL. For example, her Shapes and Gestures in the Rear Window skit were excellent, but when she delivered a line it just fell flat.

    Same problem with the "party planner" skit. There were some brilliant one-liners in there ("And when a black person shows up... just kidding, party joke" and "if it's diarrhea, you must go live in the woods like an animal") that played off the neanderthal racism and sexism of the early sixties, but her delivery of those lines didn't hit the mark as it should. I suppose it's because I could imagine Bets saying these things, sarcastically or no, fixing the camera with that gimlet stare and icy tone that brings Don back to earth. #saturdaynightlive

    That was an awful show, no doubt.

    I'm assuming that 99% of you didn't make it that far, but I think the writers sent us a message with that last sketch (Sukekis/Jones on the picnic blanket looking at clouds), namely "this is basically what January Jones is like in real life."

    And she didn't even do a half-decent job at that. When you can't even play yourself... yeah, maybe Ashton had a point. #saturdaynightlive

    This is pretty much the smoking gun I've been waiting for that proves January Jones is an absolutely awful actress who has somehow managed to stumble upon a gig that makes her look waaaaaay better than she is. All the deciphering of the Betty Draper character is a futile attempt to explain an actress who has almost no idea what she's doing. Her mystery is simply her vapidity. She really works best as a model for period outfits. #saturdaynightlive

    Oh my God. I missed the monologue the other night so I just watched it on DVR. The woman cannot even read. She literally has no skill on Earth other than modeling and portraying Betty Draper, so, basically, anything that exploits the fact that she's composed of stone. #saturdaynightlive

    @jasonelias: There must be times where by Wednesday or Thursday the entire cast and crew know the guest host is a train wreck, but what can you do? You've promoted the show as is - firing the guest host would be an even bigger disaster. #saturdaynightlive

    @weekly: I know that's undoubtedly happened. What I think they do is just not write hilarious stuff for them. That's probably why most shows like the January Jones episode are uniformly bad. Often even as early as the next week with another host, you might see a show with one funny skit after the other. #saturdaynightlive
