    @Lizawithazee: The only good thing that comes out of SXSW is that they bring a lot of good Canadian bands down south. I personally like to wait until long after it's over, look up the list of guests, and pick through the carcass until I find a band I like.

    @Lizawithazee: Uuugh, same here! And I work right on the corner of 6th & Congress, the edge of SXSW hell. But it's always amusing to see the kids from NY & Europe walk around like they're schooling this hick town in fashion & culture.


    They're probably wondering, "Where have all the cowboys gone?"...

    @hesperid: I figure I can go any of those places 50 or so other weeks of the year, so why not give them free range without having to hear locals grouse about how crowded. I LOVE IT that they are coming. I'm even okay if some of them end up staying.


    Enjoy yourselves, darlings! The weather's supposed to turn gorgeous again on Sunday and last through next week. Don't forget to pack sunscreen. Pale coders, filmmakers and guitar players burn right quick.

    I'm so old I used to go to SXSW when it was a plain old music conference, full of drunk music industry people eating breakfast burritos and schmoozing at the bar of the Four Seasons Hotel, stopping the hype only to take a call on a foot long cell phone without texting capabilities regardless of roaming charges.


    God that was fun.
