    If you read the whole story, she says


    "Collins, 32, said she feels "preyed upon by the one person I should have been able to trust and look up to the most . . . It's only more recently that I've come to accept the fact that he raped me.""


    And the attacks had been going on since 2004.


    "From September 2004 until last February, Frechen "engaged in violent sexual assaults and other forms of sexual harassment" against Collins, the suit says."


    Could also be consensual relationship that broke up, she lawyered up, and I'll bet they settle out of court.

    A friend of mine was attacked by her boss after a night out with clients. She's scared to say anything much to our dismay. Is it possible that in this economy, that male employers are taking advantage of their employees knowing that nobody wants to hire a lawyer and lose there job. So upsetting.

    @Cheap Shot: Damn possible. Even in a good economy, desperately needing a job has always held women back from filing sexual harassment claims (well, when they even can. How many waitresses/cashiers/assistants have no clue how to go about it?)

    Kimsama, I was horribly harrassed by 2 bosses (midnight phone calls and appearances at my apartment building, "I'd like to f*** you right here", "I need you to come to my house to help with that presentation for Monday" etc. etc.), and I would think she'd have known to make excuses "I can't that night, I have to get home to my daughter; I have a meeting", etc. etc.


    At the very, very least, I would have had a Dictaphone with me or - better yet - had a second colleague come with. I'm all for the Taser approach! As a woman - if you have had this happen to you before - you have to protect yourself.

    @FormerEnglishMajor: Oh dude, so sorry, I was joking (as I thought you were, because I misinterpreted your comment as tongue-in-cheek blame-the-victim). I completely agree you have to set yourself up so that you can defend yourself.

    I'm not sure that a dictaphone would be admissible evidence in a case against the guy, but the idea of asking someone else along (or to follow) is a good one. Then, they can act as a corroborating witness if anything does happen.

    @kimsama: Got it. I thought you were saying that the poor woman was right not to do/say anything. My brother came with me whenever I had to do anything for/with my boss if it wasn't in the office - just said he had to give me a lift, or that we were going to my parents' afterwards, etc. etc.


    It is cases like these where the woman actually sets BACK the cause of women being harrassed in the workplace. I would have understood if she said nothing until now after he harrassed and harrassed her, and as a single mother she had to keep her job, so she stayed quiet until they transferred him back to the States.


    I do NOT understand her going to a storage unit alone with him after he'd tried to force himself on her, and then saying nothing after he allegedly RAPED her.
