@ Wences: Like "taken out to the soccer stadium" for its utter wonderful absurdity. The one that just occurred to me is much more ominous, "Sent for reeducation."
I would hate to be the editor in charge of this project. Just imagine having to meticulously go through these metaphors and try to unmix them. It's no easy task. I particularly like "the colors came together in a throbbing print that was so bad it was good." I'm sorry, but that makes no sense.
Also, some factual contentions need to be explained, but I wonder whether she is really up to the task. For example: Is NY really the epicenter of fashion? I would argue that it really isn't.

It's wearing to hear writers try to infuse patronizingly glamorous premises with their idea of hardship in order to provide necessary plot conflict. It feels almost demeaning to have to follow a plot arc of trifles when so many of our lives have sincere struggles. I guess I'm just fed up with this literary formula.

haha, it's nice to see Microsoft Word's thesaurus function has such a strong impact on today's "poetic prose".

Aren't "sumptuary" and "sartorial" adjectives?

Although not that hard to get published, if you're a wealthy East Coast blue blood.
