    They're both hosting because they're in an upcoming movie together, and it's a good promotional opportunity for them. (It's a romantic comedy in which they compete for the affections of Meryl Streep, who probably was also asked and wisely declined.) #stevemartin

    @snugbug: @snugbug: It's Complicated -- written and directed by Nancy Meyers, which means it'll be classy, have a great cast, and be a lot less funny than it should be. John Krasinski also stars. #stevemartin

    Love Steve Martin; Baldwin more of a wild card as host -- which is good and bad --but I'm optimistic. Still, if the producers wanted to pair it up, I'm surprised they didn't re-unite Martin and Tina Fey. #stevemartin

    Last time Steve Martin hosted, he kicked ass. I think he was the best Oscar host ever. Why should he have to share hosting duties Baldwin, anyway? #stevemartin

    @MisterHippity: Those that don't learn from the past are destined to repeat it.

    And....it's a publicity grab. Two famous people hosting a show are going to get more buzz than one person hosting the show who did it before--when he was much more famous.

    Maybe I am too young to appreciate his genius, but I don't think Steve Martin is that funny. And as much as I worship St. Alec at the 30 rock alter, I can't see him carrying even half the show. Definitely an unexpected choice, I'm guessing it will either come together magnificently or implode. #stevemartin

    @IpsoFacto: And your last sentence sums up why it's going to make for a must-watch show. I think if they implode they will mangnificently implode. They won't do some half-assed "we got nuthin'" performance like the god-awful Emmys hosted by reality show hosts. #stevemartin
