    Pilsner is a style, not a brand.


    Heineken is the Dutch equivalent of Budweiser.


    Beck's is the German equivalent of Budweiser, except that you'd be laughed at for drinking it in its home country. Nobody does.


    Whoever wrote this knows nothing about beer himself. Budweiser, Coors and Miller are only slightly worse than the brands he likes.


    My point being not that I or anyone else has better taste than he does, but that if you're going to pretend to be a beer snob, at least try to know a little about the subject. If you really cared about quality rather than just having a snooty "imported" label on the bottle, then you'd have been complaining about Heineken and Beck's long before this.

    Well, the bottles in middle on the top shelf with the blue and gold label look like Fosters (Australia) and the bottle on the far right might be Stella. Great reporting, Mr. Thomas. (I assume you aren't related to Helen Thomas.)

    its exactly what the europeans do themselves. i remember an economist article on the highly nationalistic car purchasing behavior of europeans. the french buying french cars and the germans buying german cars disproportionately have nothing to do with quality. perhaps we should join the game they are already playing:P

    Oh boo-hoo. I don't feel bad that I don't feel bad for the googlers. No imported, fancy pants beer for your TGIF crap? Some people don't even have jobs let alone company-provided beer and "TGIF" events. So drink your Budweiser and shut up; at least it's not Natty Lite. And shame on you, Gawker, for buying into it.

    It is kind of whiny, BUT, sometimes the office parks are miles away from any kind of food service industry. So, you know, get in your car and drive to 7Eleven for a Mt. Dew? Or??? My husband actually buys sodas he likes (hansens diet!) and people at his office drink his damn sodas. The mini fridge he kept his lunch in was banned, and now people eat his damn food. It kind of sucks. He works at a big 3 game co. Bunch of morons.

    At what point do we stop with the 'just be happy you even have a job' bit? What if all those of you that are complaining about the original poster, had to pay for parking at work every day? Should we not complain becuase 'free parking' is a perk? Someone's gotta pay to maintain the asphalt, why not the implementation staff whose back the company profits from in the first place. Dam, I sound like a socialist.

    @misslinda: I've never understood why companies give employees bad coffee. It's like they are saying, "Please take 20 minutes 2 or 3 times a day to go down to the coffee place and buy drinkable coffee. It's cool. We won't miss you."
