I don't understand the Physchology Today author's befuddlement as to why wedding guests can't wait to get to the reception and drink. Does anybody but the bride and groom ever enjoy the actual wedding part of a wedding?
There's a link on the page about social rejection for the following mindblowing scientific revelation:
"Researchers have found that men and women who feel sensitive to rejection based on their physical appearance are more likely to express interest in having cosmetic surgery than those who are less sensitive to appearance-based rejection. This effect is particularly true when people recall negative comments about their physical appearance."
Adjusted for inflation, Kodak cameras' price range in 1900 (smack in the middle of the Gibson Girl period) would have been approximately $135-$2,500. However, even a model at the lower end of that range would have been a luxury for the average Joe, because the average annual salary at that time was $449.80. Moreover, who had time for vacation? Most people worked 9 hours a day for 6 days a week, and most folks of that period would have been in church or temple on the 7th day.
So, the fellow with the camera above is definitely a capitalist running dog.
VF mag and old repeat himself Gray Don can offer you nothing unless you are a middle aged housewife from Dubuque or somewhere like Milwaukee with aspirations toward better handbags and a touching if not naive belief in the reporting part, which is why all the articles and listicles about New York were phoned in from a call center in Mumbai or someplace equally in touch. This magazine is a waste of trees.
