I write for a news wire in California, and every freaking statement we get from the state Republican Party is 100 percent vitriolic/ douchy. Insults, name-calling, condescension. Instead of "Democrat" or "public option," they say "the tax and spend crowd" and "socialized medicine." Then they cry foul if journalists don't repeat their propaganda.
My attitude is screw it, if you don't give me something other than juvenile name-calling, I'm not quoting you.
Goosebumps!!
"Sarah Palin is my hero," chirped Ms. Prejack—er, Prejean. Well, Former-Hoosier is MY hero for the day. If only we could clone you and plant you in every newsroom in America. #carrieprejean

If the media keeps giving this lout an opportunity and outlet to spew hate and show her lack of intelligence, I think I'm entitled to stop her message on a grass roots level by letting her books sample my pee.
My only regret is that an employee would have to clean it up. Why not just toss the whole display in the dumpster and write it off as a loss? #carrieprejean

I don't feel I would be treated w/ the same respect on the open market. Meaning people who don't know you assume all kinds of stuff about you. Once people heard I was a Christian that didn't believe homosexuality was moral then I would get a backlash from the very people who want me to respect their views.

It's not a question of what you, personally, believe is moral or religiously condoned. It's a question of a minority being denied equal treatment under the law because people like you seem to believe that your morality should be universally enforced. I can think of many things--adultery, premarital sex, even masturbation--that are considered sinful by the Church and yet are perfectly legal, because we are not supposed to be living in a theocracy.
You say you know gay people, like them personally, don't want to persecute them, etc. etc. But you also support a religious institution that actively works to suppress the rights of your so-called friends. If they really do welcome you into their homes, they are extraordinarily forgiving and you should consider yourself lucky to count them as friends. #carrieprejean

I'm curious. You cannot figure out why you're on the receiving end of a backlash when you're attempting to define morality?
How would you feel if a herd of gheyers and gheyelles came to your door and told you that they found your sexual preference immoral and unsavory and then denied you the right to visit your partner in the hospital because you didn't have a stupid piece of paper from whatever state you live in saying that your commitment to your partner is valid? Would that make you feel like a valued member of society?
If it's respect you seek, then respect you must give. However, if your value set is more important than the basic rights of others - I cannot fault anyone who isn't going out of his way to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Sorry. It doesn't work that way. You don't get to judge *and* have people accept you unconditionally.
And a big, fat -10 for the, "I have ghey friends" comment. #carrieprejean

Really? What about support their desire to get married if that's what they wanted? Or is that where your "do anything for them" line is drawn?
Don't delude yourself. You have clearly stated that you would NOT do "anything for them". People may not asssume you're full of hate, but they may conclude that your full of something. #carrieprejean

Plus, as flossy eloquently already explained, you're supporting a religious institution that actively seeks to deny rights to your "friends," so it's not exactly difficult to see why some might find your professed support of gay rights a bit disingenuous. #carrieprejean

There certainly are many Christians who are hateful and clearly misunderstand the message of Christ. karaakins doesn't appear to be hateful even if you don't come to same moral conclusion about homosexuality. There are many different Christian churches out there with all sorts of Christians in them. Lumping all Christians or even all Christians who believe in a certain way into the same boat as hateful activists is just as prejudicial as homophobia or racism. #carrieprejean

Your convictions become offensive when you try to start applying them to people other than yourself. I have no issue with you thinking homosexuality is immoral. As long as that constitutes you not having gay sex, and doesn't result in you intentionally trying to circumvent the separation of church and state via laws that only matter to Christians, then it's not an issue.
When you vote to restrict rights from them because they aren't following your religion, then you just become a bigot. The difference between allowing your 'morals' to serve as a guide for yourself vs. trying to force everyone to fit into your concept of 'good' is the difference between being respected, and just being another asshole.
If your target was meat-eaters, it would be just as absurd.

No one cares what you think about what they do with their genitals.
Your religion doesn't require you to care what other people do with your genitals.
Your religion doesn't require that you share your concern about what others do with their genitals.
Other people's genitals are none of your business.
So...if you choose to share your opinions about what other people do with their genitals, it must be because you're not minding your business.
And all anyone asks of anyone else in this life is that you mind your own business.
If you can't follow that simple prescription for living, you deserve all the hate you get.

Wrong. No one here has suggested that she is or should be "politically active" in any way. I couldn't care less if she takes to the streets to protest for either side. What I AM pointing out in her hypocrasy in saying that she would do "anything" for her gay friends...except, support them in their desire to get married if that's what they wanted. Basically she's saying "I like you when we're just hanging out and talking about non-gay stuff, but when you want to actually be who you are, that's where I draw the line." So yeah, about that proving someone right... #carrieprejean

Also, why is it a heathen like myself hasn't done half the dirty stuff Poster-Girl-for-Jesus Carrie has? What's going to come out about her next week? Does she smoke crack out of baby skulls?
If so, I'm sure she was twelve when she did it. So, you know, stop hating and being so inappropriate. #carrieprejean
