Here's a problem I see: When you're a stylist, you're a walking business card, and Taylor's business card looks like she walked into Kinkos and said "gimme somethin' quick, whatever you got in a sans serif, maybe a picture of the globe, cause I'm global. And I need it in an hour." #taylorjacobson
If Taylor were a guy, she'd be hailed as the clear-thinking, unsentimental yin to Brad and Rachel's unbelievably irritating, baby-talking (seriously, what is that accent they all have?), bow-tie-wearing yang. She'd also possibly have her own show on Spike.
Taylor reminds me of everything I hated about my worst internships. She is impatient, doesn't listen to practical concerns, doesn't explain protocol, doesn't set a proper tone for the company culture, and expects people to read her mind. Yea - she seems to be a well oiled machine when working alone. Where Rachel Zoe is flighty, and driven by passion and aesthetic - Taylor is goal oriented and a work horse.... it's a good partnership. But as soon as Brad was introduced as a new employee, in Taylor's mind, it was like adding an extra cog to an already perfect machine.
She's accomplished enough, but is a horrible leader/teacher/team member though. Her buzzphrase is "Be Proactive", which basically means - know what I want from you without being told.
And the saddest part is that Brad REALLY seems to love fashion and have impeccable instincts, whereas Taylor seems to just want to get the job done. He's got a great eye.
What's particularly scary in the LAT story is the fact that Brad is five years older than Taylor, when it seems his career and life are only just beginning, whereas hers...
@Our Lady of the Massacre: Yep. Me too. Infact I am think of changing my name to "TaylorOfMyOffice" or maybe I can con my offcie into changing my title to Taylor as well, since I don't think I'll be seeing any kind of raise this year.
This kind of behavior, I find, correlates to not having a romantic relationship. By which I don't mean she needs to get laid, but it does seem that being married or otherwise long-term-committed tends to put this kind of work power politics in perspective.
The worst is the deliberate withholding of information, followed by the "How could you not know this? It's the most important part of the job!" Blood-curdling.
But the most terrifying office dramas I've witnessed are the handiwork of married ladies, and I've held many a job alongside a micromanaging control freak who also couldn't stop referencing a partner.
Lack of perspective has no corrolation to relationship status.
@City_Dater: Agreed. The common thread here is personal insecurity, nothing more. Otherwise you'd just be friendly with everyone while shooting for the moon.
@lacieca01: You are spot on with the deliberate withholding of information thing. Such a passive aggressive power trip. And she can shove the martyr act up her bony ass. RZoe can find a hundred kids with better attitudes to do that job equally well if not better. I think she must like the fact that Taylor is the only person who ever seems to tell her no.

While supposedly being in the business of "style" hence visuals...wouldnt it be prudent to look at things w/o an ultrablack UV-proof layer?
Zoe...you truly are a useless human being.
