The sexism is lamentable but understandable, given the dominance of males in engineering (although I thought females were better represented in software). The xenophobia is harder to get, though. Isn't the high-tech industry full of foreign-born engineers? Shouldn't these people be used to dealing with others who have accents different from their own?
These two (among many) seem to amazingly come up with some attention-getting emotional stunts just at about the time they need to draw attention to some money-making activity.
I find their revelations about technology often not so revelatory.
I'd rather get my information from technologists who have subsequently learned journalism than from journalists (and other non-tech backgrounds) who struggle to understand technology having never "done it".
How was it this year? I saw a little of the ustream live feed - the comments were particularly harsh and the companies were mostly lead-gen or, just, not thought out - Sprowtt?! really?
Also a lot of half-price/free ticket type offers leading up to the event. Tough environment.
