@hilikusopus: 4Chan doesn't attack. /b/ does, and only certain conditions, it's a site for furries, gaia, sometype of REALLY strange fetish, and or a hate group (or annoying one like whitepower or CoS).
Consumerist was more likely targeted by a dirty business or Comcast, either one or the same.
@jasonliang: Noted. Here is part of Moot's, (4chan's manager or whatever) response to AT&T's attempt to clear 4chan's DDoS attack. Sounds like a measured response coming from a reasonable guy to me.
"In the end, this wasn't a sinister act of censorship, but rather a bit of a mistake and a poorly executed, disproportionate response on AT&T's part. Whoever pulled the trigger on blackholing the site probably didn't anticipate [nor intend] the consequences of doing so."
Why would anyone want to target a site devoted to protecting consumers from corporate abuse? *wink
@hilikusopus: We were nothing but kind and supporting of 4Chan, as was the editorial copy. And quite vociferous in condemning AT&T over their - ironically - immature overreaction against 4Chan.
Although there is a rather pronounced Pro-Cat bias that permeates all that is Consumerist, both writers and commentators. So when all else fails: blame the dog.
The suspects are far too numerous. It could be Steve Jobs, Steve Ballmer, Lou Dobbs, Glenn Beck, Lindsay Lohan...
Anyone you have snarked at is a potential suspect. We've narrowed it down to anyone with a computer.

@Iwillnotauditionforastar: Eh, I've given him enough posts for his usual night. Thanks for the short stint with the star. It was a bit too stressful. So, thanks for letting me cut loose again.
Probably one sketchy company or another didn’t like the Consumerist review of one of its products and hired hackers to shut down the website old school.
@Iwillnotauditionforastar: I think part of the terms of Consumerist's sale included that Gawker would host it on their server for a year until Consumers Union figured out their own platform to host the site; there was a little discussion about this in Consumerist's comments a few days (weeks? who knows) ago where I think this was confirmed, and Consumerist is changing over to its own server in the autumn.
Sorry to be servicey, unless this is all wrong, in which case, ha!
And please someone take Defamer and make it grande again. I miss the living shit out of it.
I took it as a divine sign that the universe was sending me a signal to get off my ass and leave my house rather than sit here and pass judgment on the ruling class and media elite. But I was not impressed with the great outdoors... Sunshine is seriously overrated!

And I'm gonna blame it on the birthers until I get irrefutable evidence that it was someone else. And then I'm still not gonna believe it.
