Give these people their own show. Except that the storylines should revolve around their various grifting scams. Any monies earned from the show should go to pay back all the people they've bilked over the years.

They're obviously pathological liars and psychopaths, and need to be made an example of.

Even a lefty-hippie due process pussy like myself wants these two ghouls locked up for their little "prank", not interviewed by Matt Lauer. This kind of stunt can't be taken lightly. Let them be the last two residents of Gitmo for a few days, with all the amenities. Maybe put Speidi in the cell next door, to show them what they look like to the real world.

Obama's veto power should extend to reality show gigs. These Salahi assholes should not profit from breaking the rules.

Hm, interesting. How would this reconcile with LuAnn de Lesseps' appearance on GMA yesterday? (She was on to talk about the Salahis)

Since RHONY ended in May, she'd still be in the "Reality Hold Period," right? Seems strange that Bravo would sign off on her GMA appearance to talk smack about the franchise's (inevitable) new stars.

    Eh, more exposure, I guess.

Matt Lauer, as part of the NBC "News" (and I use the term loosely) team, never bothered to ask if Michaele Salahi was going to be part of "Real Housewives".

Is that because he already knew the answer and he forgot to ask? I mean, that's the whole reason they were at the White House, right? With cameras in tow?

Seems as though NBCUniComcast is waiting to see how this plays out. If people continue to hate on these two, perhaps they won't be part, but if it blows over, then a million dollars says they are part of the cast.

So now you don't have to be a shitty reality show star, you can still become temporarily famous by being an aspiring shitty reality show star.

Aspiring shitty reality show star - we have really let ourselves go, America.

Next you'll tell us all those actors who appear on talk shows are merely plugging other network product.

And which newscasts are "unscripted, reality-based programs"?

I'll take my answer on the air.

That contract has as a defined term "Reality Hold Period." I feel like that includes the last ten years.

the key phrase is "If I appear in the series.." .. but the series hasn't begun yet, so can they be held to that clause?

@lobstr: The language is also "from the date of this agreement," which in the New Jersey case was obviously executed before decisions were made about who would be appearing in the show. So it looks like the contract says, "if a decision is made in a future about your appearance on the show, then you're obligated from this date to appear exclusively on Bravo unless we say otherwise." If Bravo said to the Salahis, "you're on the show," then the clause would be in force. There's also the clause about being "reasonably available" to market the show, which isn't dependent on appearing on the show. Not to mention the general pressure that Bravo could exert on them by holding the decision about whether they will join the cast over their heads.

@John Cook: Don't you think there must have been some understanding that they would be on the show? Not contractual, maybe. But certainly a nod and a wink from someone senior at NBC Universal that they could expect to be on the show with reasonably generous terms.

So, people will now risk arrest and imprisonment to get on a reality TV show?

I guess I shouldn't be surprised by this.
