He's so cute with his above and beyond racism and misogyny. Essentially, Beck is the poster child for Affirmative Action, since he did not have to have an actual journalism nor government background to put himself in the place of doling out commentary on both subjects. All he had to do was be a white, pudgy male to get his job.
Here is an idea that would make some good television bound to get high ratings. Have Sonia Sotomayor and Glenn Beck fight to the death live on TV. The winner gets to be on the Supreme Court.
You know -- okay -- people who say that Obama should have picked the "most qualified person for the job" without caring about race or gender are usually making an assumption that if anyone other than a white male is picked, it's because of affirmative action.
If you think this way, please kindly find the most qualified person to hit you upside the head.
Any post with the phrase "Glenn Beck Says.." is likely to contain any or all of the following: insanity, hypocrisy, shouting, wild gesticulating, lying, douchebaggery.
@Ubangi: Saying that a nonwhite woman has probably faced issues in her life that would cause her to make more nuanced, thoughtful decisions in her life than a white male is not racist. Not everything that has to do with race is racist. Experiences shape who you are and how you make decisions, correct? Women and minorities generally have to overcome more hurdles and negative experiences to reach the same level of recognition as men, correct? So how, exactly, is any of that racist?
And Glenn Beck seems to be continually PROVING her point on the nuance/thoughtfulness issue.
@pssshwhatever: It's not racist, but it is stupid. She should've known it'd be used against her. Obama knows that shit... you never saw him blowing the roots horn.
@Niko Bellic: Jesus, it was eight years ago. She couldn't have known she would be a SCOTUS suggestion to Bush in 2005, or a serious nominee by the following Dem administration. This is being taken completely out of context, and it's unfair to act like she was supposed to jump in her DeLorean and foresee how her statement would be used.
Beck's guest is right in that serious conversation about how experience, point-of-view, etc. affects decision-making is a part of serious academic and political conversation. It's supposed to be. Nothing she said was incorrect or inappropriate, except that straight white men don't like to be reminded of their privilege doesn't give them divine insight into everyone's existence.
@Niko Bellic: Yep! That's why he admitted to doing cocaine in his book, cursed up a storm on his audiobook, forged a close relationship with Jeremiah Wright, and held opinions on gun control and gay marriage which he's completely changed since running for POTUS.
Just giving Fox a little something to feed themselves on.
