Every family needs an uncle who's a drug dealer. It makes Christmas dinner so much more bearable when everyone's high or on percs.

"Duke of Slough" is a joke--it's like saying "King of Passaic, NJ."

@Morningstar: Yep, Duke of Slough means overlord of David Brent's paper products empire. If you've ever seen the opening to the BBC's The Office, you have seen (and likely instantly forgotten) Slough.

This is so weird... I was just telling someone about my friend who was told they were 32nd in line to be chief of the Menomenee Indians.

Question: is this Uncle closely related to "Sir" James Goldsmith?

seriously, drugs aside, he seems a nice enough sort. maybe given to a bit of hyperbole.

and who doesn't have THAT UNCLE?

juicy, but i call nonstarter here. i don't know how royalty works, but how many people would have to die for this guy to become king? everyone? this is probably something that could never happen.
then again i'm not english, so maybe i just don't care.

@♥Anti-SocialSocialite♥: ...also, he seemed to take issue with Harry dressing as an SS officer. I think the royal family could benefit from having someone like Uncle Gary in the family.

Also, I wonder if Queen Elizabeth has ever said something to the effect of, "He has 'new money' written all over him." That would be apt.

Um, British people...the queen so lovingly gave the Obamas a framed picture of herself so they'll never be without a photo of an aged white lady, who rules nothing, to remind them of why democracy works. I think you've done quite enough. Thanks!

If there was no Sesame Street, I would have looked like a skeleton the second and third year of my son's life, because that was the only show that would fascinate him long enough for me to shove a meal down my gullet. Thanks, Ses.

It's fine, he'll do what MY family does when I give them a framed photo from one of my art shows. Replace the 'art' with a picture of the dog and put it on the mantel. ('OH?!? did you TAKE that picture? OH? oh.
