Biden was the most inscrutable choice, ever, for VP. Instead of "change" Obama brought out an old hack, who had trouble with both truth telling, even during the campaign, and with inserting his foot into his mouth. Oh, to know what kind of negotiation that was, to get him on the ticket---except, perhaps to allay terrified old white guys who feared a woman and a (half)black man on the ticket would bring on the apocalypse. #joebiden

apparently I am in the minority, but I love Joe Biden! I think he's like the lovable Steve Urkel of the White House. He comes in, says stupid stuff, knocks shit over, and is like "Did I do that?" Oh Joe. #joebiden

Joe Biden is everything thats wrong and fucked up with congress. This dope won his seat in the Senate when he was 29 and has never had another job until being VP. He has learned about as much about how the country works from his perch in DC as Palin learned about Russia from staring at it. He is walking proof we need term limits.

And he doesn't drink. I don't trust people who don't drink, unless they've already been alcoholics. #joebiden

Why is it that I feel compelled to defend Gawker's subject matter against the editors/writers at least once a day lately?

Either this new crop of staff writers is utterly fucked, or the editorial direction has taken a nosedive, or both.

Is there some negative correlation between the quality of stories and the quality of AJAX/CSS? #joebiden

@Motoko Kusanagi: From where I'm standing, it would appear to be a positive correlation. It's a good day when I get tripped up by fewer than five unresponsive scripts, infinite waits for comments to load or what have you. #joebiden

@Motoko Kusanagi: Oh yeah, I didn't mean to quibble. I agree that the site gets fancier all the time, but features seem to break often. I should have added before that it could well be my OS and browser causing headaches most readers don't experience. And in all fairness, I haven't been reading long enough to judge contemporary content against the past. #joebiden

Not sure what point you're trying to make, Amrita... that you think Cheney's worldview makes some sense? That Cheney was initially popular, before everything he did brought his popularity rating to a low of 28%? I love it that Biden is willing to call a moron a moron. This is a ridiculous post. #joebiden

I'm absolutely NOT a supporter of ANYTHING Dick says... but, Good Lawwd, Biden, Bin Laden will always BE a part of the issue. I'm sorry, I guess if you had the prez saying this I could understand... but, uh, Joe? Nope.

That being said, why are we posting crap from Fox News anyway - I thought we weren't supposed to take this stuff seriously?

    Ah, the Gawker-Post feud.
This brings to mind the phone call that Joe Kennedy (the old one, not the shot-down one or the dumb one) made to Jack Paar after Paar launched a feud with Walter Winchell on the Tonight Show. "Don't talk about Winchell," Joe urged Jack. "He's almost gone. Nobody reads him any more. You're bringing him back from the dead when you make those cracks about him. Don't do that. Don't let people start talking about him again."
I mean, a paper published by a chick who's got makeup and a do like a Sarah Lawrence junior at a Tom Tom Club gig in 1983? That makes Winchell in 1960 look hip. (OK, she's got an excuse for looking like somebody at a Tom Tom Club show, her aunt's in the band. But at least she could look like she's at one of their shows in 2009.)

Sadly, as a native Washingtonian, my experience has been that it's true that white people are discriminated against by black people with government jobs in the District. It used to be the case that if you wanted your real estate title recorded you needed to have a black title/escrow agent. Any other ethnicity and you would be waiting a LOOONG time for that title abstract, my friend.

    Absolutely. This article is laaaaame.

"What nobody will say publicly, for fear of being called a racist, is that he is notorious, especially among many of his colleagues (black and white) at Harvard, for being short-tempered and arrogant."

And look at that. Gawker proved that fear to be well founded.

I'm white and got yelled at by a black cop yesterday for something I wasn't guilty of. I was petrified. But I've also been yelled at by white cops. Sorry but I just think a lot of cops are ass----s who abuse their authority. I also think that if you ever see me with a badge and a gun you should get the f--- out because I'd abuse my authority, too. Human nature sucks.

You know what? Maybe a little reverse racial profiling would've saved us from this financial mess we're in. Rounding up people just because they're white, wearing suits, and hanging out on Wall Street sure sounds reasonable to me.

Re: Ian's quote: "Ask yourself: Has Nick ever liked anyone? His entire business is based on cheating his employees out of benefits and cheating the state and federal government out of taxes."

    Re: Denton

    Exploits his employees? Yes.

    Cheats the government? No.

Nick is simply doing what a vast amount of companies do in the current labor market. Is it right? Of course not. But it isn't illegal.

Smithhimself truly believes that treating others badly will return negativity to your life in a variety of unexpected ways. As John once sang: "Instant Karma's gonna get you..." Well, yes, it does happen.

@smithhimself: Mediahohoho is a big smithhimself fan. However, Denton treating fulltime employees as independent contractors is, in fact, a violation of the law. A very common one, yes, but one nonetheless.

How exclusive can it be, really? They're renting BATHROOMS. I mean, even I have one! I don't know why they call them bath HOUSES, but whatever.
