It was precisely Hitler's grasp of modern communications that accelerated his rise to power.
No kidding. He had the simplistic messages tailored to the audience at hand, he had the iconography ( he ruined the right-handed swastika for everyone), he had the youth, he had frightened adults. He also had a personal, authorized photographer. (See, even Gawker Stalker can be justified!)
Gawker or its equivalent would never let us forget that his "real name" was Schickelgruber.
Would that have been enough?
Dunno.
*It's been pointed out to me that one of the few benefits of illegal weapons in poor areas is that a Nazi-like group would decide to skip that particular neighborhood.
Rick: Well there are certain sections of New York, Major, that I wouldn't advise you to try to invade.

You can name it the Warsaw Bloghetto.
The blogs couldn't even prevent a Bush reelection in 2004 but this guy assumes they would have defeated Hitler? Ho Ho Ho!

If newspaper publishers had just picked up on and spread the word about the camps, maybe people would have reacted, BUT I'm not sure that was enough to get us into the war before the attack on Pearl Harbor. We were as cautious about getting into both WW as Bush was recklessly determined to get us into Iraq.
Modern communication is more helpful in exposing secretive movements i.e. Tiananmen Square, but ultimately when the government can pull the plug, there's not much the citizenry can do about it.

Unfortunately, corporate charley is onto this already and employs bloggers and commenters to mold public opinion. Sometimes in a very very sophisticated and convincing way.
