Apparently, it's all down to the Irish-language TV station TG4 that the family of The Greatest was traced back to Ennis. Having known a few Ennis men in my time, and come to grief at the hands of their charm, Ali certainly didn't lick it off the road.
Savage Sawdocs video, by the way. I defy anybody - Irish, WASP, whatever - not to have a good time at one of their gigs. Legends

This idea of multiculturalism breeds racism. It forces people to categorize themselves. If we took each other as individuals rather then as groups we would attack racism at its roots.

I am Latino. My birth certificate says white. Yet in the 40s and 50s I would have only been allowed to eat at "white" only places if I stayed in the back out of 'view.'

Haha, in Orange County, FL, Hispanics are being banned from a "biracial" panel on the racial makeup of county schools, unless they declare themselves "black" or "white."

This was certainly my experience living in the deep south. It's either black or white, because that's how many still see the world. I was in grad school there in the late 90s, and there were no significant numbers of Asians until just before i graduated, and by 'significant' i mean any at all.

I just read The New Yorker article, "Brain Gain" --how everybody is taking classy uppers and being super smart and talkative and then I got depressed because I won't take that stuff and I'll just continue to have a low output of whatever and be mildly spazzy but not productive-spazzy. And I will never be a "transhumanist" except perhaps for Comic Con which means I wouldn't be a slutty steampunk, so I would have to think that over. Sniffle.

I sense however that an increase in efficiency will not matter in the long run. Most people who are remembered or contribute anything of significance don't do it because they were 6.7% better than the other guy or could work in their cubicle for days without sleep.
