I could have sworn that guy was sitting at 3rd base relentlessly hitting on 16s vs. a face card and splitting 10s fucking up my mad soft ace doubles last time I was at Harrah's...

Ah, Harrah's.. the touristy poor man's Wynn. But they offer surrender on their single-deck tables, my weakness.

Reading the article casts the casino in a very bad light.
Steve Wynn met personally with Watanabe and cut him off, judging he was an alcoholic, compulsive gambler (and a poor one, favoring slots, roulette and playing Blackjack incredibly badly).
Harrah's had no problem, even plying him with 'script drugs and alcohol to the point of incoherence and passing out.
One Harrah's employee, who's since left the industry, recalls, "Mr. Watanabe appeared incoherent and had trouble remembering details of conversations. Other employees recall Mr. Watanabe stumbling around and dozing off at casino tables, some of which were located next to a nightclub blaring loud music."

    Sleaze, total sleaze.

Geez, don't you think it would be worth at least 14 million to Harrahs to keep this off the morning news shows and the interwebs?

I say 14 because altho he lost 127 million, he paid off all but 14 of those millions. And hell yeah, he's got much, much more in many banks.

I wouldn't be surprised if he owns Harrahs and doesn't know it.

Ok, so the casinos and friends used him to launder money?

    Here's a clue:

"Harrah's also offered 15% cash back on table losses greater than $500,000"

He wasn't a degenerate gambler, he was a consultant. Have some respect.

Being a great tipper earns immediate forgiveness for a multitude of sins, in my opinion. As long as it was his money to gamble, I'm on Team Watanabe.

Actually that yacht would be perfect to hole up in during the upcoming zombie war. Yes, i find utility in things along those lines.

That would only make sense if the rocket launched tourists in droves of about seventeen thousand to Canal Street on Sunday afternoons all in search of faux designer handbags. Outer space is a poor substitute for $10 Luis Vuitton, it’s about priorities people.
