Let's not forget that it's a Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow rip off and that we would all switch places with this movie maker in a Montevideo minute.
There's a zero percent chance that actually cost $300. If you follow through on a couple of links, it turns out the guy owns the special FX studio where this was produced, already owned the camera equipment, had friends volunteer as extras, didn't count the cost of the food. And on and on.
But even if this really cost $25,000, it's still pretty OK.
My company makes everyone write letters to 'Santa' and from those submitted, 6 people will be selected and get the thing they wrote for (has to be under $100).
I still don't know if they draw the names, or pick the letters they liked the best.
Needless to say, in the 4 years I've worked there I've come home empty handed.
I'm skeptical about that "bodyguard roomie" story. It sounds too far fetched. Why get another 18 year old kid to protect your son when you can hire all the security you want? And unless the roommate was getting paid, why would he care if Griff got kidnapped?
Wait, so the Bergen County All-Scholastic roomie is the result of Meg Whitman secretly throwing her weight around to assuage kidnapping nightmares? Seems like a stretch. What's this kid gonna do, poke-check armed intruders away?

This year I actually got two (!) items with a combined value of perhaps just over $20.
After a prolonged famine, having some bones to boil into stock is better than nothing. Merry Recession to all!
