@bjonston: Busy! It seems that all my friends are sitting at home on their asses tonight! How are you, dear Not too disappointed by our lack of commies, I hope? There's always the imagination, anyway....
@bjonston: I can always complain. It's cold. I'm lacking company (sorry Frenchy! not you!). And I have this fucking chapter that I am trying to finish tomorrow. So, you know, there's the pressure. But it is quiet and I have a very comfortable bed with lots of down and pillows to look forward to, so it's not all bad.
@SarahHeartburn: Yeah, sorry about that. Whenever a small item disappears from my home (like, every five minutes), I get down on the floor and scope out the terrain from my cats' perspectives, both low and demonic.
Misery loves company: I'd like to hear of more shitty Saturday nights. I'm sick of reading about assholes who say they can no longer afford bottle service because of the tanking economy.
@BookishLookish: The sooner the fucking better. This is ridiculous. Plus it's such a waste of easy virtue. I mean, if there were a male human being within 5 miles of me, I'd probably agree to have sex with him right now. No quesions asked.
@aurora*raby: I don't either, but I still keep liquor around. It's either that or I'm gonna start crafting, and I don't think that's a road I want to go down.
I know it makes me lose all street cred to say so, but I still think Joanna Newsom's voice sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard. I can only listen to her songs when they're getting covered by somebody else (see: the Decemberists' "Bridges and Balloons.")
No, you're not losing any street cred. I'm a complete music snob (and glutton) and she is unlistenable. The harp playing is lovely, but the voice is horrible and she tries way too hard to be precious and fails.
@carolinemccarthy: She's an acquired taste, that's for sure, but she's one of my favorite artists. I think Ys may be my favorite album by anyone ever. Her voice took me a long time but once I got past it, I was able to appreciate it.
@carolinemccarthy: Then again, I'm also a Tori Amos fan, so I have absolutely no cred whatsoever. That probably means you DO have cred. Problem solved!
@inflammatorywrit: Jumping in here, but I was listening to "Caught A Lite Sneeze" earlier today, followed by "Silent All These Years", and couldn't help but comment. :-)
@Aaron Altman: These days, that's pretty much the equivalent of jerking off to midget porn or something. I swear to god, I never bring her up in conversation lest I incur the Holy Wrath of someone or getting asked if I cut myself or am a lesbian.
Oooh! That one when he's singing something called (I think) "Daiquiri Girl" in falsetto with a Flock of Seagulls haircut. Tears down the face for me, and I never laugh at anything. I don't mean I don't laugh at SNL; I just don't laugh much (genetic defect or something). Oh, except at this:
@britneyspearstears: OMG RAS TRENT has been in my head for two weeks. Holy shit.
I also loved the Natalie Portman rap so much - that period of time when she was promoting V for Vendetta was pretty much the nexus of my incredible girl crush on her. I even got my hair cut super short like hers. Because I'm REALLY impressionable like that.
