His blue collar cred came from being a commercial fisherman, which is seasonal work in Alaska.
"Todd Palin earned nearly $34,472 working part-time last year for BP in Prudhoe Bay and about $51,679 in the family's commercial fishing business, according to state financial disclosures."

And it's a union job, so his health benefits would carry over.

@Trai_Dep: You failed reading comprehension tonight; you'd better have cocktails as an excuse. $51,879 is always greater than $34,472, and Mrs. Palin's salary as governor was $125,000 per year. So in effect, the part-time gig was bringing in about 15% of that household's annualized income. He probably saw the headlines about the advance sales for Caribou Barbie's memoir and asked "Why bother?"

When stuff like this happens, I like to toddle on over to Sarah Palin's facebook page, to read what people untethered from reality have to say about such matters. Sadly, the Palin's quittin' streak hasn't yet caught up to the drooling masses, who write such poignent comments such as "Sarah's silence is loud and clear. Across the valley and over the highest peaks, her message is as the sound of a rushing mighty wind. We the people will keep the flame of liberty burning and blow the horn of freedom until 2010 and ultimatley 2012 arrive. Sarah..Sarah.." Yup, just keep on blowin, Sarah. Keep on blowin.

I don't mind liars, really, I mean, we're all used to them. But the scary ones do bother me, the ones who tell the most blatant outrageous falsehoods which even on their face are transparent. Like, her husband accidentally checked the box Alaskan Independence Party seven years running because he thought it meant he was independent and all. And they both show up at the meetings and she speaks at them because they thought it was just another Tupperware party. Chilling.

I'd say that if Todd stays in Alaska, while Sarah takes-up residence in Des Moines, then they're definitely staying together, but if they both move to the Lower 48, then it won't be long until Todd is hanging with Jon Gosselin and Michael Lohan is on their wing.
