    The man can roast, he's a fantastic speaker who can make perfect awesome jabs at himself and his critics while coming off as someone who generally has a good sense of humor..


    Compare and contrast that with Bush where every time he'd try to make any sort of joke it always fell flat and he sounded like a fucking buffoon. The guy wasn't ever funny and it wasn't genuinely believable that he had any charm and wit like Mr. Obama clearly does posses. Very well done..

    @lobstr: I was there last night, sitting with ASU staff. We all kind of cringed when he brought up the honorary degree thing. The way he turned it into a life lesson for the graduates was amazing. I think they were really inspired by his speech.

Just because I'm no longer a graduate doesn't mean I don't need a pep-talk, and a diversion from plotting the many ways my boss could implode due to some faulty Acme products. I'm the frickin Wile E.     My question is do all of these honorary degrees go on his resume? If so, is he ethically required to denote that the degrees are honorary? I was thinking about hiring him for something when he's done with his current job, but now I just don't know.

    @ChillbearLatrigue: Generally, people who receive honorary degrees don’t actually need them for anything. In other words, if you get an honorary degree, you’ve likely reached a stage in life where you aren’t submitting resumes to employers. (Hell, you might not even be using that word. Probably you’re calling it a C.V. at that point. You feel me?) Also, the purpose of honorary degrees is not only to honor the recipient of the degree, but also to increase the prestige of the granting institution. That’s why these degrees are often given to famous people who do not necessarily deserve the degrees more than other equally accomplished people in their fields.
